How drops appear
When a customer’s food order is on the way, RoomDrop creates a drop and posts it to available runners in the building. You’ll see a notification and the drop will appear in your Runner tab.
Drop cards show:
- Building name and entrance
- Customer’s floor and room
- Any delivery notes (gate codes, instructions)
- Whether it’s a standard or rush drop
Accepting a drop
Tap Accept on the drop card. The drop is now assigned to you — it disappears from other runners’ feeds.
Once accepted:
- Head to the building entrance listed on the drop
- Meet the delivery driver and pick up the order
- Bring it to the customer’s room
- Mark it as delivered in the app
The delivery
Knock or ring the buzzer when you arrive at the customer’s room. The customer may message you via in-app chat — check your messages if you’re having trouble finding the room.
After handing off the food, tap Mark as Delivered in the app to close the drop.
Rush drops
Rush drops are priority-flagged orders. They pay the same rate ($3.00) but appear with an orange badge and are prioritized in the feed. Accepting rush drops helps customers with time-sensitive orders.
Cancelling a drop
If something comes up after you’ve accepted, you can cancel before pickup. Excessive cancellations after acceptance may affect your standing on the platform.
Do not accept a drop unless you’re available to complete it. Abandoned drops hurt the customer experience and your runner score.
Chat with the customer
Once you’ve accepted, you can open a direct chat with the customer. Use this to:
- Confirm their room number
- Let them know you’re on the way
- Ask about any entrance specifics
Tap the chat icon on your active drop card.
